The Lancaster City Bureau of Police extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Chief Walter T. Goeke. Retired Chief Goeke, shown below with current Chief Keith Sadler, served with the Lancaster City Police for 38 years, retiring in 1994.
Shortly after 2:20 am, Sunday morning, August 16th officers responded to the area of Molly’s Pub, located at 253 E. Chestnut St. (Shippen & Chestnut Sts) for a report of a shooting. Upon arriving, officers quickly determined that the shooting had actually taken place in the 100 Blk N.
Lancaster City Police arrested and charged the 45th person this year with a firearms related offense.

The Lancaster City Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) offers citizens the opportunity to learn about the internal operations of the Lancaster City Police Department. The Citizens’ Police Academy speakers, (mostly Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice experts in their fields), provide lectures, demonstrations, tours, and hands-on activities for Academy participants.
