6.18.13 Stabbing, Arrest

At 12:17 a.m. June 18, 2013 Lancaster City Police responded to the 500 blk. W. James St. for a report of a stabbing. Officers located a 21-year-old male victim (city resident) suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso and extremities. The victim was transported to a local hospital as a trauma patient. While his injuries are very serious he is expected to survive. Officers at the scene spoke to the victim and several witnesses and quickly determined that the stabbing was the end result of what began as a mutual fight between the victim and a subject known to the victim. The fight / stabbing occurred outdoors in the 500 blk. W. James St. The suspect was located inside of his residence, an apartment building in the 500 blk. W. James St., and was positively identified by witnesses. He is:

Charles Jeffery Smith 21-year-old male

500 blk. W. James St.

Smith was arrested at the scene and was charged with Aggravated Assault by Det. Sgt. Nathan Nickel before MDJ Roth. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $75,000.00 bail.
